Inquiring minds may want to know this stuff:
• You’ve read my work everywhere: on web sites, in letters, in menus and in magazines, online and print. I’ve been in Adbusters, Dog Fancy, Women Can Do Anything, Geez, Book Slut, Gremolata, Quarry, Fiddlehead, White Wall Review, Grain, Style Republic Magazine, and more. • Over a decade of experience in all facets of book retail, including academic text coordinating, front line retail sales, inventory management, loss prevention, ordering, reviewing, you name it: everything. Was awarded status as Master Bookseller for Chapters/Indigo for flawless implementation of customer service, company policy, and product knowledge: in top five booksellers of Canada. • Enjoyed learning from two 2-year stints as editor of an arts ‘wheneverly’. The Idea Museum developed a small cult following and hosted amazing art parties and readings. The online magazine was eclectic and featured artists from every walk, the globe over, famous and unknown. It was an exciting time creatively, dabbling in event planning and curatorial chaos. I’m wide open for more of this kind of experience. • I have experience in nearly every facet of writing. And I’m perfectly capable of learning new ways. Stuff that’s even more important:
These are a few of my favourite things: my cats Uncle Murky, Justice, and Bert; reading and writing, my hopelessly retro and totally trusty eMac, my amazing and crazy family, enormous sunglasses, a wide spectrum of chili peppers, little wooden boxes, The Simpsons, discovering Canadian poets, blue cheese, Bombay Sapphire, Lush Handmade cosmetics, making collages, laughing, dancing, lychees and most other fruits, mannequins, Madonna, vintage sterling silver charms, Arcade Fire, oysters, Nina Simone, hidden histories, fascinating people, Mac lipstick, e.e. cummings, edward hopper, gospel music, my rebounder, Sabrina Ward Harrison, drag shows, Cosmo Kramer, yoga, Vincent D’Onofrio, Princess Di, facebook, Iaian Greenson’s painted world, the clan of littles to whom I’m Auntsie Ret, Camille Paglia, Simon Cowell, Josephine Baker, U2, wooden bowls, Johnny Cash, anthropology of spiritual objects, outsider artists, the severely underrated James, tea and teapots, Will and Grace, the life-changing library of Thomas Moore, seahorses, Gok Wan, the songwriting of Lucinda Williams, nutritional science and controversy, the cheerful quirkyalone movement, tarot symbolism and archetypes, long walks, Little Esther, early intimate nights with Scrabble or Boggle and a friend, learning a bit more about the blues, Jaoquim Phoenix, Eminem, thrift store adventures/treasure hunting, Rhett Butler, root beer, joseph cornell, Sneaky Dee’s, the incredible internet for keeping me close to friends I love all over this wild world
